Hopes for 2013

It might be a bit late to be jotting down my NY list but who’s checking, right? So here we go with my NY resolutions, road map or to do list for 2013. What do I want to change this year? Where do I want to go in terms of career, my riding, self-improvement, travel, etc…? What do I want to have? What do I want to accomplish?

Before I start listing things down, a brief reflection of 2012… It was year of the Dragon, my year. Expectation of a great year. And so I thought. It was a tough year. The worst part of it was going through a difficult phase wherein I thought I was going to lose my mind because of anxieties. Stress? Depression? Midlife crisis? Not something I would like to openly share. For those I eventually told, had no idea and always saw me as this cheerful person that just lost a lot of weight. They thought I was drinking slimming teas to lose the weight, not knowing it was the effect of what I was going through. Hahaha! Anyway, after all that, I realized the importance of exercise. You need to have an outlet and release all those negative feelings, frustrations, worries…etc, and replace it with endorphins. In life, we just need to accept things the way they are. I have been very blessed to have absolutely wonderful people around me, especially Dennis and my mom during those times and would hate to see anyone go through it.

So enough with that…I guess losing weight is off my list this year. FINALLY!

Save money. This is a very difficult one. I suck when it comes to living on a budget or stopping myself from buying stuff I don’t need, yet I am able to justify to reasons I need them, in my head to make me feel better. I’m not getting any younger and need to be wise with spending. It’s important to secure Matt’s future and also our retirement. No, I’m not even close to 50, yet!

Travel! The trip to HK has renewed by desire to travel. When I was younger, I got to travel a lot…thanks to my parents and sister. As I grew older and started working, the opportunity lessened since I had to pay for my own fare. For starters, we’ve already booked a trip to Seoul during the Holy week. Crossing my fingers our visas will be approved.

Do something different. I should start a new hobby that will lead into something fruitful in the financial aspect. I honestly can’t rely on my current job to save much. Let’s be realistic.

My riding. It’s still my passion. Still my dream. But it hasn’t been a priority for me anymore. Perhaps discouraged and disheartened that I may not be good at it at all and just really a wannabe. So, no plans as I don’t want to feel deflated as I did last year. Additional savings, then.

Bags. Aha! It’s not on my list this year. I still love bags, don’t get me wrong, but don’t feel the need to save for one. I still drool but that’s about it. Yey for me!

Less eating out. We need to cut down on this. We can save a lot if we ate at home during the weekends. Eating out is our weekend treat after a tiring week. Hmm…this will take a lot of work.

...another baby *sigh*

So, what’s your plan for this year?
