By the way, I found out that you're taking riding lessons in Pook Ligaya Riding Stables (after browsing your blog), what can you recommend for a beginner, (a totally inexperienced one) apply for a riding lesson right away? Thank you in advance!

  7. I've heard about Marikina Equestrian and saw their page on Facebook. Pook looks bigger but they only have one instructor compared to MEC. I was told to take lessons at MEC because it's much better. What do you suggest for beginners in their 20s?

    1. Hi Niquee.

For starters, I was able to order my helmet and breeches from the stables. After that, I've been ordering my stuff from Dover Saddlery. Don't have it shipped to the Phil directly. Very expensive. What I do is have it shipped to courier from the States to Manila. Much cheaper.

    2. Are the shoe sizes in Dover Saddlery the same here in the phil.? cause' i went to their site and found a riding boot that i really liked, but the measurements seemed off. Can u please explain what is "inside top of the boot"?

    3. i'm not sure.i just followed the instructions on how to measure it. goodluck!

  13. Hello,
I am living in South Korea and engaged to a Filipina in Quezon City (Novaliches area). We are going to get married in April and Ive been searching for someone with horses in Quezon City to help me with a surprise. Does Pook Ligaya Riding Stables have an e-mail? Its very difficult for me to call internationally while I am in Korea.
    Thank you ever so kindly,

  14. What a surprise finding this blog. My brother and I started riding in Pook Ligaya under the tutelage of Tito "Totik" and Tita "Linda". This was the seventies. We also had stabled with POOK a dun-colored pony named ENDORA who foaled while at pook. So many fond memories of this place, all good. After pook (as we lived in Merville, Paranaque then) we moved on to BF's stables. Nevertheless, it was this place that nurtured our love for horses, even getting my brother to start competitons (then we had a bunch at the old Clark Air Base, the Polo club, etc) in show jumping. If "I-am-super-mom" is tita Linda .... I remember your iced-teas unde the veranda! I now live in the U.S. and keep up our love for horses, riding and competing. My daughter recently received her first horse which she now uses for western pleasure show competitions.

I promise to visit pook next time I am in the Phils. I am now looking forward to it having re-discovered Pook!

    My regards to all!

    1. Hi there. No, I am not Tita Linda :) I'm a rider at PLS and their daughter, Violet, is my instructor/mentor. Pook Ligaya is still as beautiful as you remember it. Yes, please visit it when you're in the country and I will make sure to pass on your note to Sir Totti. It's so nice to hear that your love for horses has been passed on to your daughter. Nothing like a friendship between the horse and the rider. Wish had my own but hopefully one day.

Thank you for dropping by :o)
